Voilá meine Fragen an Sarah:
Who are you and what is your business?
I am Sarah Neuburger and I run the online shop called The Small Object.

Where do you find inspiration?
Wherever it finds me. I seek out inspiration online through my favorite blogs and flickr, at my favorite local shops and in books and magazines I own and at the library. But it can find me anywhere – at a thrift store, talking with friends or flipping through old photo albums.

How does a typical work day look?
My day starts off by checking email, answering any urgent items and then packing up orders for the postman to pick up. The afternoon is when I photograph products, package new items, draw in my sketchbook or research new products. After that I go back to answering emails and finish off the day by editing photographs and updating my website and blog.

What is your favorite part of your job and what do find difficult?
My favorite part is the sketching and prototyping of new products. The brainstorming phase is endlessly exciting! The least exciting part is probably staying current on my email.

Do you have a bestseller product?
This changes over time but right now, my Miniature Mustache Magnet is selling quickly. As are my custom wedding toppers.

What is your tip to new handcrafters?
Make what is uniquely you and it will find it’s audience. I think that what resonates most with buyers is the unique connection they are able to have directly with the maker so creating objects and designs that reflect you as much as possible is extremely important.

What project would you like to realize if money didn´t matter?
A series of small hardback letterpress picture books.
